After 38 hours of travels from Singapore to Argentina, we finally landed in Buenos Aires, 3 days before cruise day to rest, explore, and adjust to the new timezones before the big adventure!
With excitement building, we made our way to our designated hotel the day before the cruise, ready to take the first main step into the unknown
As we arrived, the Swan Hellenic team greeted us with such warmth and professionalism, making it clear from the start that I had made the right choice. The seamless check-in process, thoughtful meal arrangements, and mini-orientation felt like a reassuring handshake with the journey ahead
But it wasn’t just about logistics, the evening briefing cocktail session was a great way to set the tone: a chance to connect with fellow explorers, get vital information verbal and written and, most importantly, feel the surge of excitement and purpose for the days to come
The plan was to fly us from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, Argentina from where the cruise was to begin
The SH Vega emphasised clear instructions with timings
We had each been scheduled to receive a wake up call at 5:30am (which we could opt out from) Set out time was a non negotiable 6:50am
As we wrapped up the evening, we felt informed, empowered, cared for and excited to take on the adventure ahead with new friends⛴️
Key takeaways:
🎯 The power of a warm welcome cannot be overemphasised: When people feel valued and supported from the moment they arrive, it ignites loyalty and affirms their decision to join the organisation or to buy a product / service. The greatly sought after ‘stickiness’ (employee loyalty / customer loyalty) is birthed here
🎯 Connection fuels confidence: The chance for new joiners (explorers) to meet fellow explorers and key members of the team in a nice setting, before the journey starts, helps ease nerves and builds trust. It’s a foundation for a successful mission ahead
🎯 Clear Communication & organisation is critical : When everyone knows exactly what to expect, with the right mix of flexibility and boundaries, they walk into the future with confidence
🎯 A shared mission unites a team: When a diverse group with respect for each other’s backgrounds, cultures, time and investment, unites behind a common mission, the experience is both enjoyable and powerful!
How will you embed these learnings into your leadership to make new joiners feel more cared for, confident, empowered and excited about the journey ahead?
Stay tuned for Cruise Day! 🌍
